Senior Backend Engineer

Job description

• Design, build and operate microservices that process millions of transactions every day.
• Contribute to system architecture, technology choices and engineering standards alongside solution architects.
• Help shape the technical roadmap for long-running products and break large initiatives into deliverable milestones.
• Optimise performance, reliability and scalability, and help resolve incidents in production.
• Review code, mentor more junior engineers and share your experience with the internal engineering community.
• Work directly with clients in Japan, Singapore or Europe to clarify requirements.

Requirements

• At least five years of backend development experience in Go or Java.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, message queues (Kafka or similar) and relational databases.
• Hands-on experience deploying applications on Kubernetes with CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid grasp of application security principles and automated testing.
• Experience with caching, observability and performance profiling in high-traffic systems.
• Good spoken and written English; Japanese is a plus.
